LESÃO RENAL AGUDA EM UNIDADE DE TERAPIA INTENSIVA: CAUSAS, TRATAMENTO E DESFECHO

Introduction: Acute Kidney Injury is characterized by a transient decrease in glomerular filtration capacity and results in high mortality rates for individuals in intensive care. Objective: To characterize aspects related to the development of Acute Kidney Injury, treatments and outcomes in an adult intensive care unit. Materials and Methods: Analytical, retrospective and quantitative research carried out in a public hospital in Foz do Iguaçu-PR. The population was made up of 51 medical records of individuals hospitalized for more than two days who developed Acute Kidney Injury. The Chi-Square test was used, assigning a value of p<0.05 to indicate statistical significance. Results: The majority of individuals with Acute Kidney Injury were over 60 years old (62.7%), male (57%), Brazilian nationality (92.2%) and had high blood pressure (60.8%). The initial symptoms were anuria and/or oliguria and edema (83.7). There was evidence of use of antibiotics (90.3%), mechanical ventilation (80.4%) and use of corticosteroids (84%). Patients required hemodialysis (23.5%) with a frequency of once a day (83.3%), with a hospitalization period of more than 14 days (54.9%) and death (45.1%). Conclusion: The relevance of continuing education is highlighted, in order to timely identify aspects related to the emergence of this clinical condition, given the high mortality.
